With the release of her latest single ‘Miss Me Too’, pop’s most competent storyteller Griff fights to save her soul, and rebuild her confidence as she transitions out of a suppressive, existential crisis and into adulthood.
“‘Miss Me Too’ is about being stuck in this hollow version of yourself after heartbreak and growing up, and wondering where the version of yourself went that once had faith in the world and love,” Griff says of the self-reflective track.
“I wrote this in one of the many little Airbnb’s I booked to hide out and write my new music in. I texted Lostboy and SIBA my location (who I worked with on ‘Black Hole’) and we converted the kitchen/living-room into a studio to write ‘Miss Me Too’.”
Directed by multi-award winning Parisian cinematographer Colin Solal Cardo (Charli XCX, Christine And The Queens, Robyn) the singles accompanying music video helps to further bring the sentiment of the singers lyrics to life.
Featuring choreography that channels that “chaotic and communal breakthrough from despair into joy”, the super emotive clip serves as yet another example of Griff’s ever-evolving growth as an artist, as she continues to launch a bold new era in her already impressive career following the release of last years ‘Vertigo’ – a dizzying anthem about the emotional disorientation of your early twenties, and life lived upside down by the UK’s standout new pop star.
